Why a copied key will not start your car
Most modern keys carry a transponder chip. The car checks the chip before allowing the engine to start, so a cheap hardware-store copy might open the door but not start the engine. We cut the blade and program the chip to your car so the new key does both.
Hot cars and dead fobs
A fob left on the dashboard in summer sun can have its battery drained quickly. If the remote stops working, a battery swap is the first thing to try. Never leave children or pets in a locked car — if one is locked inside on a hot day, call 911 immediately.
Ignition trouble
If the key will not turn, sticks, or the steering lock will not release, the ignition cylinder may be worn. We can often free it, rebuild it or replace it. Electrical faults behind the switch are a job for a mechanic; we will tell you which you have.

For many vehicles, yes. We need proof of ownership and the VIN. Some newer models need dealer-only access; we will tell you when you call.
My fob only works sometimes. Do I need a new one?
Try a new battery first. If it still fails, the buttons or circuit may be worn and a replacement can be programmed for many models.
